| Exhibition of exclusive Oleographs by the legendary artist, Raja Ravi Varma. The collection compromises of over 50 exceptional prints, hand picked and painstakingly collected by art aficionado and director of Studio Napean, Mrs. Kaveeta Singh. Raja Ravi Varma was born near the princely state of Travancore in Kerala in the year 1848. Born into a creative family of poets, scholars and artists, Ravi Varma was naturally inclined towards the arts and Indian philosophy. From an early age, Ravi Varma demonstrated his innate talent at painting and so exceptional was he that he attracted the patronage of the then ruler of Travancore, Maharaja Ayilam Tirunal. It was under the care of Maharaja Ayilam Tirunal that Ravi Varma was first exposed to European art and the technique of using oil paints to create natural representations of the world. |
