| Eight people converge at the American Centre to participate in a competition.The prize: a handshake with the president of the United States. Anuvab Pal, who will be staging a play in Mumbai for the first time, chose the American Centre as a venue for his story after being struck by the strangeness of consulates. People are not themselves in consulates,he said.Pal found that people waiting for visas have already reached their destination in their heads. In the claustrophobic environment of the American Centre, the young, highly competitive participants engage in a series of bizarre tests. In the process, Pal tries to capture the absurdity of modern Indian life. |
