| A talented Kathak exponent of growing importance, Gauri Sharma Tripathi will be presenting a Kathak Recital. She has been a student of her mother, Padma Sharma, who, in turn, learnt the art under the eminent guru, Lacchu Maharaj. Gauri has also studied various Indian folk dance styles, incorporating these dance influences within her classical framework. She has won critical acclaim in various dance festivals in India and abroad. She has appeared as a choreographer and performer in the Munich Biennale, Royal Festival Hall, Millennium Dome, to name a few. Presently Gauri teaches both in India and London. She is presently working on the choreography of 'Mahabharat', a test piece commissioned by Sadlers Wells and expected to be produced for a 2007 release. |
