| Dutch photographer Annelies Damen is exhibiting with her series Aquarius and Ascension in New York. Aquarius is a series of combined images of the female body photographed in a swimming pool and combined with aquarium creatures such as fish and jellyfish. Both the model and the photographer, armed with her camera and diving gear, were under water during the shoot. All images are connected in a poetic way.
Damen (1968) started her photography while traveling through Africa because she was fascinated by the women on this continent…magical, proud, independent and also sensual.She started to make the woman the central theme in her photography. |
