| An established young khayal singer of the Kirana gharana, Purvi Parikh has performed regularly on AIR, Mumbai, and has been featured in several concerts in India and abroad. Purvi was initiated into music by her parents, Arvind and late Kishori Parikh. Arvind Parikh is the seniormost disciple of Vilayat Khan (having studied under him for over 55 years) and is ranked among the foremost sitar players in the country today. He was recently awarded the Gaurav Puraskar for 1997-1998 by the Gujarat State Sangeet Natak Academy. He is the recipient of the National Award by the Sangeet Natak Akademi. |
